UWSP Outstanding Work Performance Award Winners - Melissa Bailey and Shaun Przybylski

The UWSP Libraries is proud to announce that two library staff members, Melissa Bailey, and Shaun Przybylski, have been awarded the UWSP Outstanding Work Performance Award. This award honors faculty and staff members for excellence in work performance.

From weeding support, to analytics expertise, and coordinating our collections and shelving move out of Albertson Hall to our offsite location, this "dynamic duo" have been instrumental in keep our library operations running smoothly, said UWSP Libraries Director, Mindy King, Libraries Director.

We are grateful to them and happy they have been recognized for their continued outstanding performance over the years. There will be an official campus award ceremony on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in the DUC Laird Room at 2:00 p.m., where they will be honored.

Here are a few fun facts about about Melissa and Shaun.

Melissa has worked in the library for over 12 years and started working here as a student. One of her favorite aspects of the job is "solving mysteries," trying to find that elusive missing or lost book and putting her detective hat on to see if they will turn up. In fact, during the library move, Melissa found some of these missing books under the shelving units (how did they get there?). Melissa hails from Nekoosa, has a cat named "Bones," and her favorite game is "Betrayal at the House on the Hill." When asked how she felt about winning this award, "I am very grateful to be recognized after all the work we did moving our books this summer."

Shaun has worked in the library for five years. What he likes most about the job is working with his colleagues and seeing how hard everyone works to help students and how they support the campus community and each other. Shaun is from Stevens Point, has a dog, Kusko, and his family loves to play "Settlers of Catan." Some of the strangest things he has found in the library have turned up in the book drop (and some he said he couldn't share...hmmm), but that one time there was a $50 bill someone used as a bookmark in a book they returned and Shaun called the patron to return the dough. When asked about how he felt receiving this award, "I’m tremendously proud of the job everyone at the library did related to all aspects of the move, and to be recognized for my small part of it feels really rewarding.

Congratulations again to Melissa and Shaun!
