More Showings! Movie Night "This is Our Town: Stevens Point, WI"


Oct. 25: UPDATE! Due to the overwhelming success of the first screening of "This is Our Town," there will be more showings. Please reserve your seats for these showings by contacting the UWSP ticket office for the DUC Theatre screenings at 715-346-4100 and the Portage County Public Library for the Nov. 12th showing at 715-346-1548. All are free and open to the public!

Movie description: The Nelis R. Kampenga University Archives and Area Research Center will be hosting a public screening of "This is Our Town: Stevens Point, WI" with a brief intro by UWSP History Professor, Dr. Neil Prendergast. This one-hour long movie was shot in Stevens Point in September 1954 by traveling movie producer Robert M. Carson. The movie focuses on progress and pride in Stevens Point’s industry, business, recreation facilities and places of interest as a means of boosterism for the city. It highlights residents at work and play, and identifies over 100 residents by name. The film was recently digitized from its original 16mm format by Holder Printworks of Madison.
