Children's Book Week - May 4-10

This week we celebrate Children’s Book Week.

Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. This year’s theme is Read. Dream. Share.

The UWSP Libraries has a great collection of children’s literature. While the physical collection is not available right now, we have a number of online resources you can find on this library guide. Look through the tabs on the guide for websites and other e-resources.

Here are other virtual ways to celebrate at home.
  • Check out these 3-5 minute videos from feature well-known and popular children’s book authors and illustrators speaking about their favorite character creations, including Roxie Munro, Jackie Azúa Kramer, Laura Vaccaro Seeger, and Selene Castrovilla
  • Here’s a reading challenge for you. See if you can check these all off by the end of the week
  • In the mood to color? Here are illustrations from children’s book artists for you to print off and create your own!
  • Here’s another activity you can do with a book you already love.
  • Are you into comics? Here’s a comics activity that might be fun
  • There’s more fun stuff here

We encourage you all to celebrate the joy of reading at home and join in the celebration by using hashtag #BookWeek2020atHome on social media.
