Happy National Library Week (April 7-13, 2024)!
This year’s theme, “Ready, Set, Library,” resonates with the UWSP Libraries’ mission as a dynamic hub of learning and scholarship that supports opportunities for intellectual exploration and personal growth.
Sponsored by the American Library Association, National Library Week was first celebrated in 1958 and is now observed each April by libraries of all types across the country.
Here are national days of note during National Library Week:
Monday, April 8: Right to Read Day is a
national day of action in support of the right to read. The State of America’s
Libraries Report is released, including the Top Ten Most Challenged Books of
2023.
Tuesday, April 9: National Library Workers
Day is a day for everyone to recognize
the valuable contributions made by library workers.
Wednesday, April 10: National
Library Outreach Day is dedicated to library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
Thursday, April 11: Take
Action for Libraries Day is a day for all library advocates to affirm their
participation in 2024 elections.
